Once Upon A Time
Once upon a time…
When I was young, all the best stories started this way. No matter if the tale was about a horse, or a cunning cat, or a wily dragon…all the best stories started with “Once Upon A Time…” Many still do.
These days, I write my own stories. Well, to be honest, I’ve written tales since I could hold a crayon and make letters. My characters are a lot more complex, there are fewer horses and more dragons, and I don’t write with crayons anymore.
(But, man, does the smell of a new box of crayons take me back…)
Anyway, I write mainly fantasy tales these days, populated with interesting people who get into the most intriguing scrapes, have juicy secrets, and don’t always make the right decisions. Some of them go on adventures in search of magical artifacts, some are trying to learn how to make buckets blow up with the power of their minds, and some dragons just want to make friends.
In between entertaining stories, I look forward to sharing glimpses behind the curtain with you. Maps of dungeons, gossip about some of our favorite characters, sketches, and what goes into naming my characters, as well as interviews with various personalities in the fantasy genre. Most of my stories are set on the same continent, which shares its world with a variety of races, creatures, Gods, Goddesses, and Saints. Uclandia.
It’s a magical land filled with interesting characters and their secrets, power struggles, rebellions, dragons, prophecies, legends, and stories around every corner.
I love fantasy, and I hope it shows.
I have a lot of fun things planned for An Enchanted Life. Deep dives into the fantasy genre classics, followed by reviews for those of us whose classic education in fantasy might be a little…lacking. Essays on fantasy tropes, and terms we often stumble across. Close examinations of the subgenres of fantasy. You might know that I’m stretching out into video. I’d like to offer readings of select chapters as well as environmental/setting videos. One exciting idea is to set up vignettes with miniatures to accompany the readings, but I’m still trying to figure out exactly how to do that.
But what about you, Friend? What makes your fantasy-loving heart beat a little faster? What makes you stop and say, “Wow, that was awesome!”?
If you enjoy the content on offer here at An Enchanted Life, please recommend it to your friends.
Have a fantastical day!
