Watching the flames consume his past, Vibris stepped forward into a world he vowed to understand and document.
Since that pivotal day, Vibris has wandered the sprawling lands of Uclandia with insatiable curiosity. Disguised often as a simple peasant, his rough clothing masking chainmail beneath, he moves effortlessly among all strata of society. Though his father's sword was traded away long ago, he now carries a humble short staff, bow, and arrows, symbolic of his adaptability and resilience.
Despite lacking formal education, Vibris’s natural hunger for knowledge has led him down paths many scholars envy. In the fiery glow of Fort Fairadell’s renowned forges, he apprenticed with one of the city’s master metalsmiths, absorbing secrets of metallurgy and craftsmanship. He devours every book he encounters, whether discovered in dusty villages or the private collections of nobles, always seeking the wisdom and experience of sages and travelers alike.
His solitary wanderings brought him eventually to The Blind Mare, a lively tavern. Here, fate smiled upon him, introducing Vibris to Peregrine Stormcloud, the tavern’s warm-hearted proprietor, and through her to the scholarly and enigmatic Eri Meridian. Over a bottle of fine mead and animated conversation, a bond was swiftly forged. Recognizing Vibris’s keen intellect and boundless potential, Eri invited him to her home, known as ‘Stagfrost.’
Vibris’s year at Stagfrost was transformative. Surrounded by an unmatched collection of books and scrolls, he deepened his knowledge and honed his skills as an explorer and chronicler. After resuming his travels, he continued to enrich Eri’s library from afar, sending detailed journals, meticulously drawn maps, and manuscripts documenting his discoveries across Uclandia. Eri’s dream was to compile these treasures into the definitive atlas of their land, but her life was tragically cut short by illness. Entrusted with her vision, Peregrine Stormcloud continues to receive and preserve Vibris’s invaluable chronicles.
